Make this beautiful willow and rush lunch bag/small handbag with leather or cork handles.
During the day you will learn how the willow is grown, harvested and processed. You will learn several key weaving techniques, which you can practice at home to make yourself more baskets. No experience necessary, my workshops are fun and relaxed with small classes, so everyone gets lots of hands-on help if needed, refreshments available at the onsite cafe. please bring your own lunch.
Session: Friday 12 July 2024, 10am-4.30pm
Tickets: £75/ £67.50
Tutor: Nina Stockings
Nina grew up in the Highlands of Scotland surrounded by the ancient Caledonian pine forests and much of the inspiration for her work is gained from time spent in woodlands and other natural places.
She has been based in the loft studios at Walford Mill Crafts in Wimborne as one of the resident makers since 2019, with the studios now open to the public.
Nina has a BSc Hons in conservation, which guides and defines her work practices. The sustainable use of natural resources and the connection this has to land management are important to her, all of her willow and rush is sourced here in the south of England and where possible she harvests her own locally.
Nina trained as a teacher at Southampton University in 2009 and she now runs many varied willow workshops around the south of England making this ancient rural craft accessible to everyone.
