Dave White will be leading this workshop and the session will cover:-

2-hour Acrylic Techniques – Backgrounds and Skies

1-hour Beaches and Pebbles (a half-hour lunch will also happen so bring something to eat!)

2-hours Waves and Wash.                                

1-hour Spray and Surf

Dave White is a local artist and is the author of the book ‘Sea and Sky in Acrylics‘, which analyses the characteristics of seascapes, how they can inspire and what techniques you can use to describe them in acrylic paint. Dave is also a well-known pet portraitist and landscape painter and is exhibiting in January at Forest Arts Centre from the 7 Jan - 15 Feb 2023.

This is a beginner's workshop and introduction to Acrylic paints and therefore all materials will be provided within the cost of the workshop. 

For those students who wish to bring their own materials, this is the list of materials we will be using;

 

 

 

  •  a 20 x 16” stretched canvas or similar size canvas board

 

  • 75ml tubes of acrylic paint; Cadmium Red Deep or Crimson, Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine and Pthalo or Prussian Blue, Titanium White (plus Hookers Green, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre)
 
  • Paper kitchen towel
  • 2 containers for water (preferably not glass)
  • Plastic palette or a saucer for mixing paint
  • a 1 inch wide flat synthetic hair (watercolour) brush
  • a half inch round synthetic hair brush
  • a half inch flat acrylic bristle brush
  • a half inch long rigger
  • Some reference for a painting you might like to try and most importantly…….
  • Any other paint brushes you might care to bring
  • an open and willing heart with a smile!
