Celebrate mental health awareness week with us!

Be inspired to start a nature journal filled with drawings, paintings, photos, quotes, thoughts or observations. It can have lots of words or no words. You decide what you are going to record and how to record it. Maybe you’ll document your surroundings, express your thoughts and emotions, or use it to practise art techniques that interest you.

All abilities are welcome, whether you want to try something new or build on existing skills. Kat will guide and support you to explore the natural world using a range of exciting creative prompts and techniques.
Nature journaling is creating just for fun and there are no rules! It’s suitable for everyone and benefits include helping us relax, practice self-care, boost confidence, connect with our surroundings, embrace mistakes, experiment and try things out.

***Most materials are included, however please bring along a pencil, some loose sheets of paper and a journal or sketchbook of your choice. You might also wish to bring natural items to inspire you such as foliage, sticks or feathers, and please wear clothes you don't mind getting messy.***

When: Saturday 17 May 2025 10:00 - 12:00

Tickets: £35, £31.50 concession

Tutor: Kat Ward

Hi, I’m Kat Ward, an artist and educator from The New Forest, UK. I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art, worked as a Visiting Tutor at The Arts University Bournemouth and delivered interactive tours and workshops for Southampton Arts and Heritage.

My first photographs were taken with disposable 35mm film cameras and I still have a soft spot for their aesthetic, often incorporating light leaks, multiple exposures and other imperfections into my work. I’m hugely inspired by nature and enjoy combining my love of the outdoors with collage, printmaking and alternative photographic processes such as anthotype, cyanotype and lumen printing.

I’m passionate about helping others embrace their creativity while benefiting health and wellbeing. I have over ten years experience teaching creative arts for all ages and also work as a Forest School practitioner.

If you’d like to get in touch to organise a workshop, event or just to chat, please do, I’d love to hear from you!
