Nick Saunders MA is a local historian, writer and chairman of the Milton Heritage Society. His illustrated talk will focus on the arrival in 1886 of the new direct railway line from Brockenhurst to Bournemouth. This created a train station in the middle of farmland, one mile northeast of Milton Village. Nick will reveal how a community grew up around the station and became the town of New Milton.
The talk will be followed by the unveiling of the New Milton Station Model Railway. The setting will be the station in the years 1930 to 1950 and built in OO gauge by David Webb and other enthusiastic members of the South Coast Model Railway Club.
There will be plenty of time for chat about the station and our town history as well!
