About the tutor: Shelley Perry is a landscape painter based on the Dorset and Hampshire coast, where the sea and surrounding countryside provide constant inspiration. Working exclusively with her hands rather than brushes, Shelley uses acrylic paint to create bold, expressive works that celebrate colour, movement, and the raw beauty of natural coastal landscapes. Her practice is instinctive and process-led, rooted in a freeing and liberating approach to painting that values emotion, energy, and physical connection with the canvas. Each piece is shaped by touch, gesture, and spontaneity, resulting in vibrant, tactile surfaces that reflect both place and experience. Shelley is currently expanding her practice by experimenting with new materials, including spray paints and acrylic inks, further pushing the boundaries of her mark-making. Originally trained as a primary school teacher, Shelley now also runs local art and craft workshops for both adults and children, sharing her passion for creativity, confidence, and playful exploration through art.
