At Growing Yogis, we empower children aged 8 to 12 to build confidence, resilience, and mindfulness through the enriching practice of yoga. Our classes are carefully designed to meet the developmental needs of older kids, offering a blend of movement, focus, and fun that helps them thrive.
Why Yoga for 8 to 12-Year-Olds?
As children grow, yoga provides invaluable benefits:
- Improved Strength and Flexibility: Fun and dynamic poses help growing bodies stay healthy and strong.
- Focus and Self-discipline: Breathing and mindfulness techniques enhance concentration and emotional regulation.

What to expect: Classes are varied and fun with a combination of breathing exercises, postures, chanting, yoga games and relaxation/visualisation techniques which all help children gain self- confidence, positivity and come to terms with many of their physical and mental developmental changes.

What to bring: Please wear comfortable clothing, bring your own mat if you can and plenty of water. This class will be held in our theatre space, so parent can choose to watch the session or enjoy a delicious hot drink in our Cafe.
Tutor: Rebecca Rodrigues
Rebecca Rodrigues has been practising yoga for many years and has been a qualified teacher for 19+ years. She is trained in Sivananda Yoga which is a traditional restorative, energising and revitalising practice. It is an easy to learn style suitable for all. She teaches traditional yoga in and around the Bournemouth area, and undertook her training 19 years ago in Nassau, in the Bahamas. She went to Montreal, Canada later that year to train as a Children’s yoga teacher. Then she went back to the beautiful Bahamas the following year to take her Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist course which enables her to offer a rewarding experience for those wishing to heal through the practice of yoga and its philosophy. Rebecca’s yoga is suitable for everyone! She teaches all genders, ages and abilities. She teaches weekly adult classes in groups/online but also offers 1 to 1 sessions either online or at your home.
