The Southern Companion have spent much of the last few years touring the UK, Europe and the USA, supporting soulful songstress Rumer and 60's legend Lulu, as well as playing to festival audiences up and down the country. Individually they have played with everyone from Lulu and Tom Jones to Mel C and Take That, and their third album debuted at Number One on the iTunes Country chart on 25 January.
Fronted by singer/songwriter Darren Hodson, the band recorded an Under The Apple Tree session for broadcasting legend Whispering Bob Harris in 2016 and soon after performed at the Country 2 Country (C2C) festival at the O2 in London which launched them firmly onto the UK Country music scene. Their second album 1000 Days of Rain went on to win them Album of the Year and Horizon Act at the 2016 British Country Music Awards, while 2017 saw them scoop the Band of the Year award.
2019 brought Live shows for The AMA-UK, National air play on BBC Radio 2 from Bob Harris, as well as a featured song in the smash hit movie Wild Rose feat. Jessie Buckley & Julie Walters. It also saw the release of their third album Shine A Little Light which has already won Album of the Year at the UK Country Radio awards and has also been nominated for Album of The Year at the British CMA.
Now they return to New Milton with their UK twist on Americana and Country!
