Music does us all good. Come and join us if you enjoy making music. No experience necessary.
We will begin each session with warm-ups and gentle exercise to relax the body ready to learn some of the benefits of singing. We will sing a wide variety of songs, some with backing tracks and some with live accompaniment. The emphasis is on enjoyment and developing confidence in using our voices, not necessarily in a fantastic sound!

Tutor: Frances Attwood
Frances Attwood trained as a secondary school teacher then began her career teaching piano and violin. She discovered another side to music at Great Ormond Street Hospital, seeing the benefits to children, parents and staff. Then, as a primary school teacher, she recognised music’s cohesive force. In 2001 she retrained as a music therapist. Working at the Coda Music Centre, she both taught and practised therapy with all ages from two to ninety-nine, with people with a huge range of disabilities, from autism and learning disability to those with physical challenges. She spent five years in Uganda, again working in dual roles, appreciating music’s social importance. In 2017 she completed her MA in music therapy, researching the benefits of music for people with dementia, and now runs a dementia group. She also runs a choir for asylum seekers. She is passionate about using music to enable everyone to participate. This class is NEW at Forest Arts for Autumn 2019
