Letter Quilling

Quilling is an art form that involves the use of paper strips that are rolled, shaped and glued together to create a decorative design and dates back to the Renaissance. Tutor Carolyn Taylor will show you how to use simple paper rolling techniques and how to manipulate the coils of paper into different shapes, which are then arranged to create an image.
  • Learning Goals (by the end of the workshop you will be able to)
  • Demonstrate winding paper strips into a coil, use a mould and secure them
  • Manipulate the coil into at least three shapes
  • Create at least three different shaped scrolls
  • Arrange the coils and scrolls, using a template, to create a letter or a free design of choice.
This workshop is aimed at beginners so no previous knowledge is necessary, but will require dexterity.
This is an ideal craft to carry on at home as it demands minimal materials, tools and space.

What you need: All materials will be provided on the day. We also ask that all class and workshops
participants over the age of 11 wear face coverings in the venue

"I truly believe everyone has the ability to be creative. I enjoy teaching all learners how to express their artistic abilities, whether you’re a beginner or intermediate learner. These workshops are designed for everyone, you'll be able to walk away with a new skill and a finished piece or a work in progress but sometimes it’s the journey that counts, it's about experiencing something new, meeting new people and immersing yourself in something different from your normal walk of life. Art is my therapy and I know I couldn’t live without expressing my creativity, so what is holding you back, come to one of my fun and friendly workshops and have a go."- Carolyn Taylor
