Join us at the Forest Arts Centre for an accessible and practical introduction to grant writing, designed especially for small grassroots organisations, community groups, creatives, and individuals looking to bring their ideas to life.

This session will take a friendly, “light-touch” approach—perfect if you’re new to funding applications or want to build confidence without feeling overwhelmed. We’ll explore the basics of what makes a strong application, how to clearly communicate your project, and what funders are really looking for.

While we’ll touch on well-known funding bodies like Arts Council England (ACE) and the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), the focus will also be on uncovering a wide range of smaller, often overlooked funding opportunities. These can be more accessible, less competitive, and better suited to early-stage ideas or local projects.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of where to look for funding, how to approach different types of funders, and some practical tips you can start using straight away. There will also be space for discussion, questions, and sharing experiences, making it a supportive environment for anyone at the beginning of their funding journey.

Whether you have a fully formed project or just the seed of an idea, this workshop will help you take the next step with confidence.
