Date: Monday 28th April
Time: 10:00 – 12:30pm
Meeting point: Highcliffe Cliff Top Carpark, Highcliffe, Christchurch BH23 5DF
(This route contains some inclines and steps, up and down the cliff)
Pausing for two main stops on our walk, we will be using various materials including pencil, charcoal, ink and paint to create mini works on paper that capture the beauty and mood of the things that inspire us on the way. In this, the second of two ‘Sketch & Paint Walkshops’, we will build on our experimental works from the previous session to help us make informed choices about the use of materials, to create more-finished artworks of the chosen landscapes
We will meet in the carpark next to the Cliffhanger restaurant. From here, we will walk left, out of the carpark down the steps towards the beach. We will begin our journey by heading straight down to the water to stretch & prepare our paper on board, using the seawater!
Following this, we will plan to follow the promenade along the beach, stopping to capture the stunning views as we go, before looping back up the cliff along the undercliff path, back towards the Little Hanger takeaway hut for a well-deserved coffee.
What to bring: be sure to dress warmly in layers and wear waterproof walking boots or shoes to stay comfortable in potentially wet conditions. If possible, bring a lightweight fold-up chair or cushion in a plastic bag in case the ground is damp, though benches will be used when available. You’re encouraged to bring your own art materials, but basic supplies such as paper, pencils, and coloring materials will be provided and shared among participants. The event will involve some exploration to find the best views, so being prepared for adventure is key!
