Summer Creative Camp
Fuel your child’s creativity at our twice-weekly summer Creative Camps! Your kids have all the fun - we get all the mess! Sing, act, dance and create crafts to take home and treasure, these creative, crafty workshops are inspired by your favourite books and films and perfect for children aged 5-11.
Tues 7 August; 9:30-11:30 THE INCREDIBLES
Become a superhero for the day! Create your own superhero dance and to make sure you won’t be recognised, you will need to design and create your own special mask. We will help you all the way!
Thurs 9 August; 9:30-11:30 CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Two fantastic activities that Charlie, Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt and Mike Teavee would swap their golden ticket for!
Make and decorate scrumdidlyumptious chocolate lollies - 1 in milk choc decorated with sprinkles and 1 using mallows and white chocolate.
Just like Roald Dahl, have fun inventing and playing with words and characters - Gobblefunk, humplecrimp and Oompa-Loompas. Have a whizzbang time creating your own short play!
Tues 14 August; 9:30-11:30 SING
Taking inspiration from the wonderful film “Sing”, you will create your own miniature puppet theatre to keep and we will teach you to dance to “Faith” like your favourite characters from the film.
Thurs 16 August: 9:30-11:30 THE GREATEST SHOWMAN
The hit musical theme that has wowed audiences this year is the inspiration for today’s workshops.
We will teach you the much loved song “A Million Dreams” and then together you will create new verses with lyrics about your own hopes and dreams for the future.
Create your own trapeze dancers soaring through the air as you make a trapeze mobile to take home.
Tues 21 August: 9:30-11:30 THE GRUFFALO
Whatever age you are, you can’t help but love the Gruffalo.We will work together to turn this much-loved classic tale into a silent movie!
You will create a series of static poses of your favourite characters to tell the tale of mouse’s hunt for the Gruffalo. Then capturing these by taking photos, writing your own captions and putting them all together you will create your very own re-telling of the tale as a silent movie!
Thurs 23 August: 9:30-11:30 DIARY OF A WIMPY KID
What will your diary look like? Create your sculpture inspired by the Wimpy Kid head.
Tues 28 August: 9:30-11:30 FANTASTIC BEASTS
Let your imagination run wild creating a headdress of a fantastical beat – perhaps it will be a cross between a unicorn and a zebra, a dragon, dinosaur…. Once you have made your headdress you will be all ready to join Craig and Polly in telling the fantastical beasts’ stories…
Thurs 30 August: 9:30-11:30 HORRID HENRY
What scrapes will you get in to? You'll face them with Bearface Theatre and create puppets to help you tell your stories.
With each session lasting two hours (from 9.30-11.30am), you can either choose to relax in our comfortable Green Room Café (children under 8 will require a parent/guardian to stay on the premises for the duration of the workshop) or, for children aged 8 and over, leave them in our care and catch up on your ‘to-do’ list.
Perfect for kids from school years R-6, we group the children by age to ensure they have as much fun as possible. The ticket price includes all materials, a cold drink and snack.
