Exhibitions and Artists' Receptions

Exhibitions

Our exhibitions programme is very important to Forest Arts. Not only do the artworks create a stimulating ever changing backdrop, they also add to the ambience of the centre. We hope you enjoy seeing all the different media and artists. You can also buy the art on display - we offer an attractive Arts Council England approved 0% credit loan scheme - making art more affordable. Please ask us about any of the artists or their work - we’re happy to help.

Sophie Abbott

" "

Wednesday 2 April – Saturday 10 May

Exhibiting throughout the UK and selling to an International market, Sophie works from her beach front studio in Brighton. Her prolific exploration of the British seaside, through the layering of vivid fluorescent colours and energetic mark-making continues to be a vital source of inspiration. Sophie’s paintings are a response to a place in time and explore the dual aspect of the natural and the man made. Her colours focus on the interplay of space versus intense areas of solid forms, mark making and motifs. The abstract nature of Sophie’s paintings allow the viewer to escape within the image. Sophie spent the winter travelling in South America, and her new body of work has taken its inspiration from this trip.

Carol Farrow

" "

Wednesday 14 May – Saturday 28 June

Making pulp from cotton fibres is the starting point for Carol’s work in paper and paper-clay. From this Carol takes inspiration stemming from architecture, costume, objects and surfaces worn, deteriorated or affected by age to create beautiful and interesting pieces of large format paperworks and paper-clay objects. Having shown and taught workshops all over the world, Carol comes to Forest to share reflections of her main collections.
